A Dusun man in Jerudong, Brunei has embraced Islam.

Bandar Seri Begawan: A 70-year-old Dusun man, Tabong bin Tidom, converted to Islam on Thurday night at the headquarters of the National Development Party (NDP) in Limbaruh Hijau, Jerudong.

He chose Muhammad Tabong bin Abdullah Lidom as his new Islamic name, as he uttered the religious syahadah in the presence of Mohd Muizzuddin bin Haji Jaya and Haji Mohd Ali bin Haji Sabli, officers at the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Muhammad Tabong is a widower with nine children.

Attending the conversion ceremony were Yassin Mlandy, the President of NDP, and his deputy, Mainland Morshidi Othman.

After his conversion, a Majlis Berdikir was held. Muhammad Tabong received gas from the Islamic Dakwah Centre and party members.

Muhammad Tabong, a member of NDP, said that he been interested in to Islam ten years ago and wanted to convert but did not know how. He was allegedly told to find his own way.
